Sorting Our Way Through A Snow Day and Tall Guy's Birthday! Bonus Recipe at the End!

So what do we do when we have a snow day?  Well if it happens to fall on Daddy's birthday, he gets to decide, and his choice was to SORT!

First, Tall Guy brought down the BIG BUCKET OF CHANGE that has been holding down his dresser for about a year.  Tink was all over this job while Bear was more into talking to us while we searched for wheat pennies and all the crazy kinds of nickles.

Have you looked at a nickle lately?

When did it start changing?

Who thought that was a good idea?

Go ahead, dig through your purse.  I'll wait here while you do.

How crazy is that?  AND since when did the back of my penny start looking like a Superman shield?

Seriously!

We also sorted clothes to the tune of about SIX loads of laundry.  How did that happen?  I did spare you the view of the pile of dirty whites!  Like the way we dry our boots around here?
Then we also sorted soup labels and box tops for school.
Did I mention it was Tall Guy's birthday?

Want to have a bonus post and learn how to make a yummy peach cobbler?

First, grab a box of Jiffy Golden Yellow Cake mix and a bag of peaches from the freezer.  I had to feed eight so I grabbed two of each and a 9 x 13 baking pan.

Sprinkle one box in to a lightly greased 9 x 13 baking pan.  I used Pam.
Next, pour your bag of peaches over the cake mix.
Then take the second box, and sprinkle all of it over the peaches.
Now take one of these.  Have you seen this cool way to package butter in the refrigerator section of your favorite supermarket?  1/4 sticks!  LOVE THAT!

Cut it up into pats or patties or little square chunks, and place them evenly on top of the cobbler.
Bake at 350 for about an hour or until it bubbles in the middle.  I think this one went past the hour mark.
And Voila!  Peach Cobbler, just like my Tall Guy loves it.
 Very easy-peasy!

Stay warm out there.  We are gearing up for about four days of winter.  Stay tuned!

  6. Happy birthday to your Tall Guy! The dessert looks yummy. Who needs birthday cake! And about the money, all of our money is becoming just worthless play money. It even feels like play money.

  9. We don't sort coins anymore...not even to look for special ones. We just take our jars of change to the bank and let the machine count it. Awesome. Love the peach cobbler recipe.
