What I Did This Weekend

The weekend used to start on Thursday night, but that was once upon a time when I was in college, the dinosaurs had just left the Earth, and Sue Ellen's sister, Kristen had shot J.R. Now they kind of start on Friday.

First Tink's class went to visit The Feast of the Hunter's Moon. It's a pretty big historical event around these parts that allows kids from 0-99 to revisit the early 1700's when we were just Indians and fur traders. Here are two posts about it from last year when the whole family was able to attend. It's well worth the time to take it all in! Part 1    Part 2

The bus made it back to school with about 20 minutes to spare before the Great Walk started. It's actually our SHape Up for Sacred Heart Walk. This is our fifth year for it. The kids take pledges and walk about a 5K around the town. As I drove in (because I was co-chair), I was praying like crazy because it was raining at my house, just five miles south of town. The Good Lord heard me;  the skies opened up to sunshine and warmth for the walk! Wooo! Let the walking begin!

The leaders of the pack

Tink decided, apparently, to run or fly through the walk this year.  She was one of the first third graders to finish.  She said she was looking for me, and I didn't get to walk this year because I had to stay behind and pass out water and snacks for everyone to have when they returned! Sniff Sniff!  I took these pics as I walked up toward the walkers as they finished.

Forth grade girls ROCK!  They still like to hold hands!

These two are 2/3 of one of my most favorite pictures I have ever taken.  Bear and one of her dear BFFs!

Two crazy young ladies!

While the kiddos were out walking, men from our church were in the gym setting up tables for our first Show and Tell Night!  It was a very informal Open House with pizza and pop served.  The kids showed Mom and Dad around their rooms, and then everyone came in to eat and socialize.  It was a HUGE success!  WOOO!

After all this fun, it was home to bed so we could be on the soccer field at 9:00 for the last games of the year.  There was some talk of just pitching up tents and waiting for the sun to come up, but I'm glad we only thought about it for like two seconds because it rained over night!

Too funny but both teams waited until the last game to take team pictures!  Bear is in the first pic, and Tink is in the second.

Of course both girls played at the same time, so I had whiplash by the time it was 10:00.  Tall Guy plopped his tush in one spot and watched one game!  Is that legal????

SERIOUSLY???????

Then it was home to finish clearing out all the old insulation from the front wall of our house. Uhm,...yes it's kind of naked, and yes...we are probably partially responsible for the rain this weekend since the front of our house is exposed with no siding on it.  There is a porch, and we did put plastic on the east/west sides. The front of our house faces the north. OH!  I also have been allowed back on the mower, so I mowed the yard until Tall Guy came home from hauling all the crap refuse from the house away somewhere.

Next was baking cookies and a pie for the chicken dinner in the gym pictured above.  I have to admit that I had boxes of cookie dough to use and a pie in a box to bake, but I did get it all in the oven and to the gym this morning.  The dinner was wonderful!  I LOVE going to dinners where I don't have to cook much or clean up.

So there is my weekend.  I may just have to get in the hot tub tonight and soak some of this crazy away.  Good news?  I crossed off FIVE things from my calendar and TO DO list!  WOOO!
